I haven't posted a new blog in forever because the laptop has been downstairs in the cold basement while I sit upstairs in the warmth on my new ipad. I can't seem to blog on the ipad so I've been putting it off. I thought I was being all cool and I brought the laptop upstairs. The battery life was still above 70% and for some reason it just shut off and erased the entire blog I was working on :( So here I go to try it again...this time plugged in downstairs. I'm cold :(
The nursery is completed as I write this but I'll show you the work in progress first. It went through a pretty huge transformation in my opinion. I blogged about the way way beginning already...
This was a half empty room that we turned into an "office" by putting a desk in it and we lived with that horrific chandelier for a year. And as the old blog post shows the bottom part of the wall got painted a yellowy-beige color. Next the chair rail was put up and painted.
Look at my mom helping us out! Whooo!
My dad built the dresser for us but I didn't take any pictures (sorry mom)
Scott continued to built the rest of it and of course the most important piece...the crib!
We played around with moving furniture around and getting the best layout that made the most sense. Geeze, there were so many factors to consider (1) I didn't want to the crib up against this wall because it's right up against the kitchen and it could be noisy! (2) I didn't want the dresser up against the other wall because the radiator is there which leaves a gap between the dresser and the wall and when he gets older there are things that will go flying back there when he is given an item to distract him while getting his diaper changed. (3) The glider sticks out really far in this tiny room so where could it go where we wouldn't walk into it all the time? (4) I wanted to use this corner wicker shelf in this one specific corner that would possibly hold the video monitor. (5) I bought an expensive winnie the pooh lamp shade to go on my grandma's old lamp and I intended on using it no matter what. (6) The light switch is connected to one particular outlet so there has to be a lamp plugged in there!
Do you see what I mean? Troubling.
Ultimately we ended up with this layout which I am very happy with.
Then I anxiously awaited the baby shower to fill in all the empty space! Speaking of baby shower, that should be my next post :)
